The concept of the exhibition is based on the representation of tensions between the sensual order of reality and the ‘invisible’ world of ideas, between the daytime activity of the mind and the time of dreaming. Both are marked by gathering small trophies – dream objects, which I am trying to recreate or enchanting and remarkably sculptural remains drawn from the ideal order of nature, or inspiring refuse of civilization, processed into semantically popular ‘sculptural bodies’, certain ‘essences’, retaining the ‘alphabet’ of formal issues. The fabric on which the whole composition is based, is the intimate space of a flat, signaled by the structural echo of household appliances. They mark characteristic areas connected with activities of the users, their everyday rituals, patterns of moving along the domestic routes. The world of mental activity also builds the layers of its essence on what is visible. It leaves traces in the form of tiny artifacts and echoes of invisible structures – visual memory, duplicating the shapes of the surroundings, and something more.
The presentation is part of the concept, I have cherished for several years, which I like to casually call ‘tender formalism’, a vision of a passage between abstraction and elements imbued with romantic, mysterious contents and sensuality deeply rooted in nature. In a nutshell, a concept developed, as it often happens, during long walks and everyday bustling about the flat.
