Bazyli Wojtowicz
Studies: in the studio of Prof Henryk Kuna, 1921-1923, and then at the Municipal School of Decorative Arts under the direction of Prof Jan Szczepkowski. He continued his education at the Warsaw’s Academy of Fine Arts, in the studio of Prof Tadeusz Breyer. Diploma 1932. He obtained stipends which allowed him to stay in France and Italy. Pedagogue at the State Higher College of Plastic Arts, Poznan where he ran the Studio of Monumental Sculpture, 1936-1969. He was deputy dean of the Faculty of Painting, Graphic Art and Sculpture. He participated in the World Olympic Exhibition in New York (1939) and in the International Exhibition of Sculpture at the Rodin Museum in Paris (1951). Laureate of awards in sculpture competitions, inter alia for: the project of a monument of Tadeusz Kościuszko (1st prize) and of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznan (together with Czesław Woźniak, 1st prize) and the Award of Poznan City, 1956. Decorated with the Gold Cross of Merit. Author of portrait and monumental sculptures.
