Studies: Faculty of Painting, Academy of Fine Arts, Krakow (197-1963). Diploma in the studio of Prof Emil Krcha (1963). Co-founder of the group ‘Wprost’ in Krakow. Lecturer of the Academy of Fine Arts, Poznan (since 1979) and in Krakow. Author of paintings, sculptures, as well as essays and articles on art, curator of exhibitions. Co-author of the book 100 najsłynniejszych obrazów [100 Most Famous Paintings], together with Andrzej Osęka. Laureate of, among others: the Cyprian Kamil Norwid Award of Art Critique, 1967; Award of the Museum of Warsaw Archdiocese 1984;Committee of Independent Culture ‘Solidarność’ for a series of paintings The Cloak of the Good Samaritan, 1984; the Jan Cybis Award, 2002; the Alba Romer-Taylor Award for works of sacred art; award of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, 2006.
