Magdalena Więcek

Studies: Faculty of Painting and Faculty of Sculpture, State Higher College of Plastic Arts, Sopot, under the direction of Prof Marian Wnuk, 1946-1949; then studies in the studio of Prof Franciszek Strynkiewicz at the Academy of Fine Arts, Warsaw. She took part in groundbreaking artistic events in Polish art, such as : All-Poland Exhibition of Young Art, ‘Arsenal’, Warsaw, 1955, and twice in the Biennial of Spatial Forms in Elbląg. Long-standing professor of the State Higher College of Plastic Arts, Poznan, 1966-1982, and Academy of Fine Arts, the Hague, 1983-1984. Since the 1990s she lived and worked in Germany. Laureate of, among others: Grand Prix Internazionale de la Contemporanea d’Art Principauté de Monaco. Author of outdoor projects: Closer to the Earth, 1961, Kröller-Müller Museum, Otterlo, Holland; Lotna, 1967, Aalborg, Denmark; Stone, 1963, St. Margarethen, Austria. Author of sculptures, drawings, paintings.
