Studies: Faculty of Sculpture, Akademia de Arta, Bucharest , 1954-1961; since 1970 citizen of Germany. Since 1971 professor at Hochschule für Gestaltung, Technik und Wirtschaft, Pforzheim. Laureate of awards, among others: Louis Tiffany Foundation, New York (1974); Premio Arte Communication Biennale São Paulo, Brazil (1980); Rumanian American Academy Award (1994); Prix d’Or, Beauvais, Festival International de la Tapisserie Beauvais, France (1996). The artist’s oeuvre is determined by the memory of the Holocaust and the WWII. The motif of column of geometrical and abstract form appears in all of his monuments. It is a symbol combining memory, site, history and transcendence.
