Adelina Cimochowicz is an artist among others focusing on video, photography, activism and working with communities. She graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at the Białystok Technological University as well as the Faculty of the Art of Media, Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. In her previous projects she has mainly concentrated on themes connected with fear, feeling excluded and oppressed. She is the laureate of Grand Prix at the Young Wolves Competition, special award of the jury in the Hestia  Artistic Journey Contest, the Maria Anto and Elsa von Freytag-Loringhoven Award. Her work Loss. Or from the History of the Long Established Mistake was presented within the framework of the Project Room at the Centre for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw.

Adelina Cimochowicz’s latest exhibition is an installation comprising the sound recording and a series of ceramic forms which were prepared specially for the Orońsko Chapel. On Meadows, on Mountains, on Woods refers to a folk song about ‘unrepentant souls’ which look for a place of eternal rest. Since the mid-19th century, 17 variations of the song have been recorded, which significantly differ from one another depending on the region. Its original character of  a text sung by performing vagrants, turned into a religious song connected with the cult of the Virgin Mary. Changing the text of one of the variants -  The Legend of Repining Souls – the artist refers to the fluidity of folk oral traditions and attempts to restore the original context of the song, close to nature.
