Studies: Academy of Fine Arts Warsaw, under the direction of Prof Franciszek Strynkiewicz and Prof Ludwika Nitschowa (1952-1958). Diploma 1958. Full professor, dean and deputy vice-chancellor of his alma mater. Member of the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences. Author of many monuments, inter alia: Silesian Insurgents, Katowice (with Wojciech Zabłocki), 1967; Poles’ Heroic Deeds, Szczecin, 1979; The Invincible Fallen, Warsaw, 1973; and religious works. Laureate of awards and distinctions, among others: 1st degree Award of the Ministry of Culture and Art (for lifetime achievements), 1973; Officer’s Cross of Maltese Knights, 1990; Commander’s Cross with a Star of the Order of Polonia Restituta, 1997; Grand Cross of Polonia Restituta, 2011.
