Studies: Academy of Fine Arts, Warsaw, 1950-1954. Professor of the State College of Plastic Arts, Poznan, 1965-1990. Lectured at universities in Tokyo, Berkeley, San Diego, New York, Boston, UCLA –University of California in Los Angeles. Awarded honorary doctorates by the Royal College of Art in London, Rhode Island School of Design, Academy of Fine Arts in Lodz. Author of monumental Abakans. Grand Prix laureate of the 1965 São Paulo Art Biennial. In 1969 she took part in the Wall Hangings exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. In 1980 she represented Poland at the Venice Biennale. The artist’s work in the scope of outdoor sculpture was begun at the Biennial of Spatial Forms in Elbląg (1965).

Works in the collections of: National Museum in Warsaw, Wrocław and Poznan; Art Museum in Lodz; Central Museum of Textiles in Lodz; Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris; Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
