Studies: Faculty of Sculpture, Academy of Fine Arts, Warsaw, 1952-1958. Diploma in Prof Marian Wnuk’s studio, 1958. Stipends from French and Polish governments, he complemented his studies under Ossip Zadkine in Paris. Sculptor, painter, stage-designer, initiator and author of spectacular artistic actions. One of the precursors of pop-art and assemblage. Author of banners – works on the borderline of sculpture and textile art, as well as huge spatial projects. For the production of his works he was using rusty wires, pieces of metal sheets, broken mirrors, glass, fabric, elements of various objects. In outdoor compositions he used the elements, such as water, wind and fire. Author of monuments, laureate of awards, among others of the Polish International Association of Art Critics AICA for the most outstanding artist of the post-war thirty years; the Alfred Jurzykowski Foundation (1978) for his contribution to the development and promotion of Polish art in the world; Foundation of Polish Culture (1988).
