


Jubilee celebrations of 40 years of the Centre of Polish Sculpture
‘The Centre of Polish Sculpture has been conducting exhibition, research and artistic activity for four decades. Today’s jubilee is a wonderful occasion to congratulate the institution on its beautiful achievements and to support the activities that will decide about its future’, wrote the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Culture, National Heritage and Sport – Prof Piotr Gliński in a letter sent to the participants of the jubilee celebrations of 40 years of the Centre of Polish Sculpture in Orońsko, which was read by Agnieszka Komar-Morawska, Director of the Department of National Institutions of Culture .
Between 15 and 19 ‚September 2021 the Centre of Polish Sculpture in Orońsko hosted official celebrations on the occasion of the jubilee of establishment of the institution by the Ministry of Culture, National Heritage and Sport 40 years ago. This jubilee falls exactly on the 180th anniversary of birth of the Polish painter Józef Brandt, former owner of the Orońsko estate.
On Wednesday, 15 September, editorial meeting of the Sculpture Quarterly ‘Orońsko’ was held at Józef Brandt’s palace, connected with a discussion panel of permanent quarterly contributors. During the meeting speeches were delivered by: Katarzyna Trzeciak, Agata Cieślak, Urszula Usakowska-Wolff and Małgorzata Lisiecka.
On Friday, 17 September, a gala Programme Council was held connected with the conference ‘Site in Real Space and Art. The Site as Sense’, with the participation of all the present and former members of the advisory council of the Centre of Polish Sculpture in Orońsko, outstanding representatives of the sculptors’ community. The meeting was chaired by Tamara Książek, and speeches were made by: Jan Stanisław Wojciechowski, Zbigniew Makarewicz, Dorota Folga-Januszewska, Mariusz Knorowski, Dorota Perszko-Sosnowska, Kamil Kuskowski, Marcin Berdyszak, Sławomir Marzec, Tamara Książek and Maciej Aleksandrowicz.
On the occasion of the jubilee, the Centre of Polish Sculpture in Orońsko came forward with a proposal to award medals to outstanding sculptors and members of staff of the institution.
The Minister of Culture, National Heritage and Sport, Prof Piotr Gliński awarded four Medals For Merit to Culture – Gloria Artis – Gold medal was awarded to Prof Stanisław Radwański, Bronze medal — Prof Grażyna Jaskierska-Albrzykowska, Prof Karolina Komasa and Prof Andrzej Szarek. The medals were officially handed in during the gala on Saturday, 18 September.
On Sunday, 19 September, the last day of the celebrations of the jubilee of 40 years of the Centre of Polish Sculpture in Orońsko, a family picnic ‘Orońsko’s Birthday’ was organized. During the event, the visitors could see the exhibitions Nothing but Art by Ursula von Rydingsvard, God at Home, the presentation 40 Photographs, documenting the events and people during the last 40 years and showing the history of Orońsko inhabitants and their connection with the Centre of Polish Sculpture, as well as an installation consisting of works made by the participants of ‘Orońsko Free Academy’ project, realized within the programme Accessible Culture / Kultura Dostępna.
