Date of death 1990

Studies: Academy of Fine Arts, Warsaw, in the studio of Prof Tadeusz Breyer.  He continued studies, broken by the war, in the years 1946-1951. He took many artistic journeys. Laureate of numerous awards and distinctions, inter alia: two Gold Medals of the 3rd International Art Biennial, Carrara (1962); Gold Cross of Uprising for his participation in the Warsaw Uprising 1944. Major realizations: monument in the concentration camp in Rogoźnica (Gross-Rosen), 1953; monument to the Fallen and Killed in the WWII in Puławy, 1963. In the 1950s he was making sculptures addressing the theme of war. He reached the prime of his career in the 60s. In that time he made sculptures of biological motifs, with a synthesis of shape and a smooth, polished surface. In the 70s, the artist started to work with hard wood, thanks to which he could obtain similar effects to the earlier stone sculpture.
